$2.99 covers the range where most single documents stop. Twenty-five pages is a lot of contract; past that, $0.12 a page keeps a long fax from costing more than it should.

WHEN NOT TO USE US

If it's one or two pages and you're near a library, go there.

Plenty of public libraries still fax for free or about a dollar — call first, a lot of them have quietly stopped. The UPS Store runs roughly $2 a page and Staples is similar, so we're cheaper past about two pages, but that's not the same as always being the right answer.

And if your fax is under three pages and you don't mind an advert on the cover sheet, FaxZero is free and it works. We're better past three pages, we take a card instead of PayPal only, and we give you the transmission record — which they don't, at any price.

Questions people actually ask

Straight answers

Can I fax from my phone?
Yes — that's mostly what this is for. Take a photo of the page or pick a PDF. iPhones and Androids have no built-in fax, so this or an app are your options, and this one doesn't need installing. We handle the conversion too — right resolution, so nothing gets cut off.
What happens if it doesn't go through?
We retry three times with a gap between attempts. If it still fails you are not charged, and you still get the record showing exactly why — busy line, no answer tone, or the far end hanging up mid-page.

Three tries, then we stop. After that we’re just harassing someone’s fax machine.

Do you build the cover sheet?
Yes, automatically. Federal law requires your name and number on the transmitted page, so every fax gets a cover sheet — you don't have to make one yourself.
Do you keep my document?
No. We convert it, send it, and delete it. What we keep is the transmission record — timings, page count, confirmation code. Never the contents.
Is this HIPAA compliant?
Not yet. This beta isn't configured for HIPAA-covered workflows, and we don't have a signed BAA in place with our infrastructure providers — please don't send protected health information through it. A compliant tier is on the roadmap; if you're a practice or health system, tell us you're interested and we'll reach out when it's ready.
Can I receive faxes too?
Not on the one-time send, and not yet on a general-availability basis at all. A dedicated Business Fax Number (planned $9.99/month, one local US number) is in early access — real inbound receiving and carrier provisioning are still being tested, so we're not representing it as fully live yet. How reliable is it, really?
We publish our measured delivery rate every month rather than quoting an uptime number we can't back. Fax is an analogue protocol over ageing phone lines — some numbers simply don't answer. When that happens you'll see precisely which step failed.

Some of the copper carrying your fax was installed during the Reagan administration. We can route around a lot of things. We cannot route around 1985.
